Capacitar offers a program in team and organizational development for individuals, staffs and grassroots groups. The training uses a popular education methodology and integrates leadership theory and skills with Capacitar body-mind-spirit practices.

Training topics include:

  • Leadership values, styles and behaviors
  • Conflict resolution, forgiveness and reconciliation
  • Team Spirit theory and skills
  • Theory, development and management of organizations
  • Grassroots organizational development: budgets, funding proposals, strategic planning and sustainability
  • Body-mind-spirit practices and personal work.

Brazil

Report from Tony Sheridan, Rio de Janeiro
The first training for leaders in Brazil took place in Nova IguaƧu, Rio on Nov 11 and 12, 2006. Mary Litell facilitated the group of 42, which included pastoral health and child health volunteers, community leaders, teachers, catechists, those involved in political education, popular theater, nurses, a doctor and a psychologist. Two people came from Sao Paulo.

It was a marvelous weekend. The group is already looking forward to the second training in April 2007. The group was very enthusiastic and is determined to pass on what they have learned to others. One of the nurses, Ana Paula, used some of the exercises with some patients the next day, with great effect. Now the doctors, in the public health clinic where she works, are interested. One mother, Luiza, did the finger-holds with her young hyperactive child, who has great difficulty sleeping, and he slept soundly. Teachers are passing on the exercises to other teachers. Community leaders want to form groups in their communities. Everyone was delighted with the weekend. Besides finding the exercises very helpful, all found the weekend so relaxing and enjoyable. In April we will have the second stage of training and will also start with another new group.
