Capacitar began its first workshops in Ireland in May 2003, working under the auspices of An Cosan, Tallaght, Dublin and coordinated by Toni Ryan. Since that time workshops have been offered to a broad cross section of professionals and grassroots throughout Ireland. In-depth trainings in Multicultural Wellness Education have been offered in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Carlow since 2004. Courses for childcare workers and in health have been developed and FETAC accredited.

In 2006 Capacitar Ireland established a national board and NGO status, with Kathleen Day serving as national coordinator. A Capacitar Ireland newsletter is available by contacting the office.

Besides workshops throughout the country, Capacitar Ireland team members have also offered international outreach in Sri Lanka after the tsunami, in Peru after the earthquake, and in Brazil. Funding through Trocaire supported Capacitar development in Rwanda, Burundi, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
