Manuals and Resources
Responding to needs in different communities, Capacitar has developed a variety of manuals in body-mind-spirit practices and theory for grassroots people and professionals. To make the materials understandable to different cultures and regions, photos are frequently used and some manuals have been translated into Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Setswana, Kinyarwandan, Indonesian, Tetum (East Timor) and Swahili. Manuals have been researched and developed by Patricia Mathes Cane, Ph.D., Capacitar Founder/Director, in collaboration with grassroots people in different countries.

Living in Wellness: A Capacitar AIDS Manual
Living in Wellness: A Capacitar Manual for Families, Caregivers and People with HIV/AIDS (50 pages) gives simple wellness practices to help people live with wellbeing as they deal with HIV/AIDS. Practices can be used for self-care for caregivers, as caregiving tools for family members and for use by those having HIV/AIDS. The energy practices are tools to boost immunity and resistance, to alleviate some of the symptoms of HIV-associated infections, to increase energy and stamina, to release emotions and strong feelings, to heal memories and past traumas, and to provide a solid base for living in wellness in the midst of the challenges of life. Capacitar for Kids: A Multicultural Wellness Program for Children, Schools & Families (120 pages, 2005), available in English, offers a series of practices and tools to be used in the classroom, in daily life and in the home. Practices can readily be incorporated into the school curriculum to enrich all subject areas and can be offered to parents and community groups as a means to deal with stress-related problems.
