Sierra Leone

MakeniMakeni - Learning acupressure techniques

In August 2008 Pat Cane worked in three regions of Sierra Leone - Makeni, Kenema and Freetown. The wellness workshops were a response to the needs of people deeply affected by ten years of civil war, poverty and corruption. Dr. Ann Stevens, SJC, coordinated the workshops with funding from Trocaire, the Catholic Development Agency of Ireland. Participants came from many communities throughout Sierra Leone including: doctors, nurses, psychologists, teachers, counselors, HIV centers, priests, vicars, religious, deaf and hearing impaired, blind, amputees, and people working with HIV and epilepsy. Because of the great interest everywhere in Capacitar's work, plans have been discussed for an in depth training in 2009-2010.
